Safeguarding Statement
Last updated: July 2026 · Version 1.0
SolidRock Home Care Ltd is committed to the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every person we support. This statement sets out how we prevent, identify, and respond to any risk of abuse or harm to the vulnerable adults in our care.
1. Our commitment
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility at SolidRock — from the founder and clinical governance lead through to every carer on a visit. We foster a culture where any concern, however small, can be raised without fear.
2. What safeguarding covers
We recognise several forms of abuse or harm, including: physical, psychological/emotional, financial or material, sexual, neglect or acts of omission, discriminatory abuse, and institutional abuse. Concerns may relate to actions by staff, other professionals, family members, or third parties.
3. Roles & responsibilities
Our founder and clinical governance lead acts as Designated Safeguarding Officer, with overall responsibility for ensuring concerns are acted on appropriately. Every carer receives safeguarding training as part of induction and ongoing CPD.
4. How to report a concern
If you have a safeguarding concern about yourself or someone else:
- In an emergency, call 999 or 112 immediately.
- Contact us directly on [PHONE NUMBER] or [email protected].
- You can also contact the HSE Safeguarding and Protection Teams, who lead the statutory response to the protection of adults at risk of abuse in Ireland.
5. What happens after a report
Every concern is taken seriously, recorded, and assessed promptly by our Designated Safeguarding Officer. Depending on the nature of the concern, this may involve immediate action to ensure safety, notifying the HSE Safeguarding and Protection Team, informing family (unless doing so would increase risk), and reviewing the care plan.
6. Prevention
All carers are Garda-vetted before their first visit, receive structured safeguarding training, and are supervised on an ongoing basis. Our technology — including the Family Portal and electronic visit verification — adds a further layer of visibility that supports early identification of concerns.
7. Speaking up (Protected Disclosures)
Staff who raise safeguarding or other concerns in good faith are protected from any form of penalisation, in line with Irish protected disclosures (whistleblowing) legislation.
8. Review
This statement is reviewed at least annually, or sooner following any significant safeguarding event or change in relevant legislation.
